1984-85 School Year
Don Peterson, Band Director, took a sabbatical leave and went to Phoenix, Arizona for one year to earn a doctoral degree. Mr. Richard Munro was hired in July 1984, to be the Band Director for one year, while Mr. Peterson was gone. Mr. Munro organized the marching band to participate in local parades. Mr. Munro also created a field show for the band.
Our 10th Grade daughter, Danette Adams, began marching with the American Fork High School Band during the summer parades of 1984 playing the bass drum in the drumline. Danette participated in the band field shows in the Fall of 1984. Our family went to parades and field shows to cheer for the band as sideline boosters. The marching band performed well using the new uniforms obtained in 1983 and the traditional two-piece wooden drum major podium as shown here.
Director, Don Peterson returned from Phoenix, Arizona to continue his work with the American Fork Band in the summer of 1985.

1985-86 School Year
During the summer of 1985, our 11th Grade daughter, Danette Adams, was playing the snare drums in the drumline. Danette asked me for help moving equipment in our Chevy Van. This was the beginning of my
job moving band equipment. Director Don
Peterson moved aggressively forward with a
new field show in the fall of ’85 and once
again brought success to the Band program
